Japan Earthquake & Tsunami Relief Campaign
The Japan Earthquake and Tsunami Disaster occurred on Friday, March 11, 2011, and is the most powerful known earthquake to have hit Japan, and one of the five most powerful earthquakes in the world overall since modern record-keeping began in 1900. The earthquake triggered extremely destructive tsunami waves of up to 128 feet that struck Northeast Japan, and led to an unimaginable loss of life and destruction of infrastructure.
Recognizing the immediate need to support their Japanese-based family, friends and colleagues, The CTF implemented an employee fundraiser through the American Red Cross to focus on a unified response to provide immediate relief and long-term support to the recovery effort. Under the leadership of Ned Umehara, Chief Executive Officer (2010-Present), Konica Minolta Business Solutions U.S.A., The CTF worked with all U.S.A.-based Konica Minolta divisions to maximize all individual divisions' and employees' contributions to provide an immediate, maximum impact.
As of May 2011, the CTF has been successful in raising nearly $70,000 for this important cause, and will continue to monitor Japan's needs for future campaigns.
